About Benenden Players

The Benenden Players are a group of local volunteers of all ages who get involved on stage and behind the scenes to bring you one major annual show, and several special events throughout the year. We have been 'playin' since 1981 and are famous for our traditional Pantos and the occasional musical.

We are inclusive and actively encourage people of all ages, over nine years old, to get involved; indeed most of the cast for any single production are drawn from children of all ages and abilities from Benenden and the surrounding towns and villages. Team working, a sense of belonging and a community focus make the Players vibrant and exciting and ensure we see many participants returning year in and year out. It is especially gratifying that many of our teenagers, who now have leading roles, started as young children in the chorus.

The Players' family is over 100 strong and we are delighted to welcome new members to the troupe or support team. We don't just need actors; we need people to help with all the other tasks that make a production work: on sound and lights, creating a flying carpet, turning beasts into princes, or weaving magical scenery. No challenge too big!

Please contact us if you would like to join our troupe or support team. It doesn't matter if you have never done anything like this before - just come and have fun.

Venue

We are very fortunate in having access to what is one of the best village halls in Kent. Benenden Village Hall has a superbly equipped main hall with a raked stage, stage lighting, plentiful seating and excellent access.

Together with the Players' state of the art microphones and newly acquired lighting system, we have all the facilities to put on a truly professional standard of show.

The Village Hall is situated on The Street between the playing field and the Bull Public House. See more about the Village Hall on its own website www.benendenvillagehall.co.uk.
